Sommer Haus Gallery invites artists worldwide to submit artwork to our online exhibit, Layers & Lines

Theme Concept:

This exhibition invites artists to explore the visual language of structure—natural or manmade. From the clean geometry of architecture to the delicate layering in a flower petal or geological formation, “Layers & Lines” celebrates the way we find order, rhythm, and meaning in form.

Works can be literal or abstract, bold or subtle. From the repetition of windows on a building to the delicate veining of a leaf, structure and simplicity are everywhere. Layers & Lines invites artists to explore the power of form—whether found in nature, human design, or abstraction.

We are seeking works that highlight:

• Architectural and design elements

• Natural patterns, lines, and strata

• Layered media or multi-dimensional techniques

• Minimalist compositions or textural depth

• Geometric repetition or organic flow

Whether your work is bold and graphic or quiet and contemplative, we want to see how you interpret layers and lines through your chosen medium.

This is a family-friendly online exhibition open to artists of all backgrounds and experience levels.

AWARDS

• BEST OF SHOW– $300 Cash | Exhibition | Social Media Promotion
• 2 DIRECTOR’S CHOICE– $100 Cash each| Exhibition | Social Media Promotion and Certificate. (Director’s / Judge’s Choice Awards — Up to two $100 awards may be presented at the discretion of the gallery or juror.)
• HONORABLE MENTIONS & FINALISTS: Social Media Promotion | Exhibition and Certificate

Prize Policy: Our awards are based on both participation and artistic merit. If the number or quality of submissions does not meet the standards set for this exhibition, Sommer Haus Gallery may adjust, withhold, or replace certain awards to ensure all recognitions reflect the integrity of the show.

Artists will be notified if prize adjustments occur and may choose to withdraw their entry for a full refund prior to jurying.

All accepted pieces will be displayed in our online gallery at sommerhaus.gallery and promoted on our social media channels and partner sites.

Cash awards will be issued via Venmo or PayPal by Carol Fox Henrichs Photography or Henrichs Media Group LLC, the parent company of Sommer Haus Gallery.

For international recipients or those unable to accept Venmo or PayPal, alternate arrangements (such as Wise or bank transfer) may be considered. Please contact us if you have specific needs regarding award payment.

ENTRY FEE

$25 for 4 submissions/$35 for 6 submissions. You may enter up to 24 total by completing the entry form multiple times. Payment is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance. 

ELIGIBILITY

This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work that has been selected for previous exhibits with Sommer Haus will not be considered.

RULES

Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. Acceptable mediums include: Acrylic, Airbrush, Charcoal, Collage, Color Pencil, Computer Art, Digital Art, Digital Photography, Drawings, Encaustic, Fiber Arts, Glass Art, Graphite, Illustration, Mixed Media, New Media, Oil, Pastel, Pen and Ink, Photo Assemblage, Printmaking, Sculpture, Traditional Photography, and Watercolor.  AI will not be accepted. Diptychs and triptychs should be uploaded as a single image.

SELECTION PROCESS

Each show is curated and juried by Creative Director, Carol Fox Henrichs along with an anonymous committee of jurors. Please note, there is no personal feedback given by jurors.

​ENTRY PROCEDURE

Entry for this call is done through the entry form on our website.  Payment is collected electronically via PayPal but a PayPal account is not required. If you have any questions, please contact us at sommerhaus@cfh.art we are happy to walk you through the process.

MEDIA PREPARATION

Please only submit properly cropped images of your work that are in focus.

For 2D works please crop the picture to be of the ARTWORK ONLY. Use a photo-editing app, if necessary, to remove excess shadows/highlights/blurriness/etc.

For 3D works make sure the artwork is very well-lit, cropped to be in the center, and against an ALL WHITE BACKGROUND. We strongly recommend the use of a photo editing app to properly achieve this. Do NOT send close up photographs or more than one image of a single work. We only post 1 picture per artwork, so send the best angle where you can see the full piece.

All images must be in JPEG/JPG format. The image size must be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side. Maximum file size is 5 mb.

Please note: Sommer Haus Gallery only accepts work suitable for a general audience. Submissions should be free from explicit, violent, or graphic content that may not be considered family friendly.

NOTIFICATION  

Notification will be done by email, everyone who submits will be notified of the juror’s selections. If for any reason you do not hear from us by the notification date, please check the filters in your email account. Notification emails are sent to the email on file with your submission.

SALES

All sales inquiries will be directed to the artist’s website and/or contact information. For any artwork that is sold, the artists receive 100% of the sale.

REGULATIONS

By entering our calls for art through our website, you are agreeing to be added to Sommer Haus Gallery’s email list for forthcoming artist opportunities. You are also agreeing that you have read and understand the legal terms. By submitting images, you agree that the images are your own work, nothing copied, you own all rights to the images, and you take full responsibility for the content of all images, including the likeness of recognizable individuals. The actual artwork will remain the property of the artist, our mission is to promote artists and their work. Should your work be accepted, you grant Sommer Haus/Henrichs Media Group the right to reproduce your image on our website, on social media, and where appropriate to help promote our online exhibitions. Sommer Haus will always credit you and your copyright wherever feasible. We will not use your image for any other purpose without the artist’s permission. Our gallery does not archive past exhibitions on our website. Once an exhibition closes, your artworks are completely removed from our website.

RIGHTS & USAGE:

Artists retain 100% copyright to their submitted and exhibited works. By participating in this exhibition, artists grant Sommer Haus Gallery the nonexclusive right to display the selected artwork in the virtual exhibition, as well as to use images of the work for promotional purposes (with credit to the artist). Participation in this exhibition is nonexclusive, meaning artists are free to exhibit, sell, or promote the same works elsewhere at any time.
