Through my art, I express my feelings for the locations I visit and the wonders of nature that I encounter along the way.

Carol Fox Henrichs is a fine art photographer based in Texas whose work explores the intersection of nature, memory, and transformation. She creates imagery that transcends traditional photography by layering textures and painterly elements over her photographs, producing works that are both contemplative and evocative. Inspired by the resilience of the natural world and the quiet beauty of timeworn objects, her art transforms fleeting moments into visual meditations on impermanence and renewal.

Carol has been drawn to the environment and spirit of the natural world for as long as she can remember. Growing up on Galveston Island, she spent countless hours on beaches, in pastures, and beside bayous, exploring, learning, and developing her early vision for seeing nature. That childhood curiosity became the foundation of a lifelong journey. Today, more than half a century later, she continues that quest as a freelance outdoor, nature, and fine art photographer.

Beach Sunrise

I create images in the quiet space between what is seen and what is felt. A single moment in nature—a bird lifting into shadow, light dissolving across a field, the hushed dignity of something long abandoned—becomes a doorway into memory and reflection.

My creative process begins in the field with a carefully composed photograph—whether it’s a bird in motion, a bloom touched by morning light, or a relic of the past. I capture the essence of the subject as clearly as possible, knowing the digital darkroom will become a space of further exploration.

Dr. Henrichs describes her art as interpretive nature imagery. While her subjects most often include wildlife, plants, insects, and outdoor scenes, her fascination with the history embodied in old and decaying objects also finds expression in her work. Her portfolio spans macro, close-up, and abstract studies, as well as intimate, rural, and grand landscapes.

I weave elements of history, weather, and feeling into each image until it becomes more than a record; it becomes a meditation—a place where time softens and the ordinary reveals its poetry.
